blurb

Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who’s had a bad year. Her mom left, her dad is depressed, she’s graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.

Then she meets Caleb.

She saves his life and instantly knows there’s something about him that’s intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she’s ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb’s enemies know he’s imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

my thoughts

This is another new author for me. A couple of my friends love this author so I thought I should give it a try. This book was chosen because it has been in my kindle archive for ages, I picked it so I can have one book off the pile.

As usual, I have no idea what I was reading about. At first I thought that this is simply another NA romance so I was really surprised when words like soulmates and imprints were thrown in the mixed. And it was all very sudden too. I didn’t expect it as much as Maggie didn’t see it coming.

I could say that the writer did a very good job on this book because I had a hard time putting the book down. The characters were very engaging and the plot became more interesting as it progresses. The thing is, this book is 400 pages and it didn’t feel like the story moved forward that much by the end of it. But the weird thing is, I didn’t feel bored either even though I feel like the pace was moving slow.

I really like the characters. I like how the two main characters where willing to wait before doing it because they are still very young and there is like a forever ahead of them anyway. That part of the story appeal to me because I have read a lot of NA and it bugs me when there’s character this age and it’s as if their life depended on having sex or losing their virginity. I’m not trying to be prude or anything but I just feel like at this age life should be about dreams and ambitions and careers. And this book tackles that along with the soulmates and imprinting stuff.

I like all the characters but I find Kyle’s character endearing among them all. True there are times he was portrayed as being this annoying cousin making a move on someone else’s imprint but I like how his feelings for Maggie seems to be more genuine. He’s been a great friend even at those times when Maggie was trying to stay away from everybody and I feel like he tried his best to be supportive of Caleb but it’s not like he can help himself feeling the way he did. I could almost feel how much all of this suck for him. If anything, I want to continue reading this series just to find out whatever will happened to him after all of this. And Bish too. He’s one interesting character and I am hoping that his character has a more vital role in all of this.

I was a bit disappointed when I came to the end to find out that it is not really the end but all in all, I can say that I enjoyed the book very much.

  1. I love what you did with youe page! I read the second book in this series but haven’t read the rest for some reason. Can’t remember, could be because I have 212 other series I am reading as well. LOL

    • Thank you! I was suppose to just add buttons but I ended up overhauling the page lol.

Uhm… Maybe because you said you don’t like soulmates? I was wondering if it’s worth to follow the series.

  2. It’s a longer series too — 4 books total (with I guess a few spin off books, though I haven’t read them). I thoroughly enjoyed it, though it’s been a long time since I read it!
