backOfBeyondSynopsis
Dina Martin and Nicholas Riley are total opposites. She’s the good girl with the perfect grades and he’s the bad boy with the reputation. Growing up together with close family ties, they have been at war as long as they can remember. When the unthinkable happens, neither of them wants it.
Set in a small town at the turn of the millennium, this story is about family and friendship, the love of music and how sometimes who you don’t want, is exactly who you need.

  • Story behind your pen name:
It’s my porn name.  I don’t write porn, but I liked it.  It sounded silly and fun.
  • Genre and why did you choose that genre:
I write realistic, contemporary romance at the moment.  I chose it because a story came into my head and as I fleshed it out, it suited this genre.  I really want to try my hand at other genres, but this is the first one that appealed to me.
  • Writing since:
I’ve written forever, but published since 2013.
  • What usually inspires/motivates you to write?
Scenes from real life. Things people say.  I tend to be inspired by a single phrase and then write a scene around it.
  • What were you before you became a writer?
    An academic.
  • Top 5 Favorite Authors:
Eek! This one is so difficult.  I actually have so many authors who are automatic buys.  I’m going to put down George RR Martin, Stephen King, and JK Rowling, but I’d like to give a shout out to Yessi Smith, Logan Keys, Megan Bailey, and Suanne Laqueur.  These wonderful women write in multiple genres and if you haven’t read their works, please, give them a go.
  • Top 5 Favorite Books:
I’m going to qualify this and say there are so many books I love. The ones I’ve chosen are the books I’ve read more than once and also, recommend to others.
~The Song of Ice and Fire
    ~The Harry Potter Series
    ~The Sparrow~
    Wolf Hall
    ~The Opportunist
  • Top 5 Favorite TV show/ Movies
I am a binge watching TV/Movie freak. I’m putting down TV shows that I can’t/won’t miss.
    ~The Good Wife
    ~The Walking Dead
    ~Vikings
    ~American Horror Story
    ~Grey’s Anatomy
    ~Fargo
  • Top 5 Favorite Songs:
Music!  Music – my one true love.  I’m going to put down bands because I can’t choose one of their songs over another.
    ~Nirvana
    ~Hole
    ~Florence and the Machine
    ~Daughter
    ~Fat Freddy’s Drop

Amazon Profile

Neeny Boucher is a nom de plume because my real name sounds like a 19th Century suffragette. Originally, I’m from New Zealand and am a long-time supporter of the All Blacks. Currently, I am living in Europe and a trailing spouse, following my husband all over the world for his work. This not only gives me the opportunity to write, but also, experience the world and indulge in one of my favourite past-times: people watching.
My own employment history is varied and ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous. All of those experiences and encounters, however, have allowed me to collect amazing stories, which now form the basis of my writings.
I have always loved the weird, the outcast and those on the margins of society because they see the world in a different way. These are the people my characters are based around.
I have a BA Hons (English and Pacific Studies) and a PhD in Sociology/Indigenous Studies.
Presently, I am working on the Complicated Love Series. Book One, Lost in Flight, was released in 2013. Book Two, Ties that Bind, released in 2014.
